Let’s open the Bible to 2 Corinthians 4, verses 7 and 12, and read them together: We have this treasure in earthen vessels to show that this great power comes from God and not from us. …In this way, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

1. Put the treasure in the earthen vessel
(1)Baby
ask: What does "baby" mean?
answer: "Treasure" refers to the Holy Spirit of truth, the Spirit of Jesus, and the Spirit of Heavenly Father!
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him. Don't know him either. But you know him, for he abides with you and will be in you. Refer to John 14:16-17
Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your (originally our) hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” See Galatians 4:6
He who keeps the commandments of God abides in God, and God abides in him. We know that God lives in us because of the Holy Spirit He has given us. Refer to 1 John 3:24
(2)Pottery
ask: What does "pottery" mean?
answer: Earthen vessels are vessels made of clay
1 have" Gold and silverware ” → As a precious vessel, it is a metaphor for a person who is reborn and saved, a person who is born of God.
2 have" woodenware pottery ”→As a humble vessel, it is a metaphor for a humble person, the old man of the flesh.
In a wealthy family, there are not only gold and silver utensils, but also wooden utensils and earthenware utensils; some are used for noble purposes, and some are used for despicable purposes. If a man purifies himself from what is base, he will be a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful to the Lord, prepared for every good work. Refer to 2 Timothy 2:20-21;
God will test each person's building work by fire to see if it can stand - refer to 1 Corinthians 3:11-15.
Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? Refer to 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

2. God’s purpose of initiating death in us
(1) The parable of a grain of wheat
I tell you the truth, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains only one grain; but if it dies, it produces many grains. Whoever loves his life will lose it; whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24-25
(2)You are already dead
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:3-4
(3) Blessed are those who die in the Lord
Blessed are those who die in the Lord! "Yes," said the Holy Spirit, "they rested from their labor, and the fruit of their work followed them." ” Revelation 14:13.
Note: God’s purpose in initiating death in us is:
1 Circumcision to put off the flesh: Christ "puts off" the circumcision of the flesh - see Colossians 2:11.
2 Suitable for main use: If a man purifies himself from what is base, he will be a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful to the Lord, prepared for every good work. Refer to 2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 21. Do you understand?
3. Living is no longer me, showing the life of Jesus
(1) Living is no longer me
I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Refer to Galatians Chapter 2 Verse 20
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Refer to Philippians 1:21
(2) God put the "treasure" in the "earthen vessel"
We have this "treasure" of the Holy Spirit placed in an "earthen vessel" to show that this great power comes from God, not from us. We are surrounded by enemies on all sides, but we are not trapped; we are troubled, but we are not disappointed; we are persecuted, but we are not abandoned; we are struck down, but we are not killed. Refer to 2 Corinthians 4:7-9
(3) Death activates in us to reveal the life of Jesus
We always carry the death of Jesus with us so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in us. For we who are alive are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal bodies. See 2 Corinthians 4:10-11.

God activates death in us and experiences "the word of the Lord" → Everyone receives the gift of faith differently, some are long or short, some people have a very short time, and some people have a very long time, three years, ten years, or decades. . God has put "treasures" in our "earthen vessels" to show that this great power comes from God → The Holy Spirit appears in everyone for good → He gave some apostles, some prophets, and some Those who preach the gospel include pastors and teachers→ This man was given words of wisdom by the Holy Spirit, and another man was given words of knowledge by the Holy Spirit. Another man was given faith by the Holy Spirit, and yet another man was given the gift of healing by the Holy Spirit. One person can do miracles, another person can be a prophet, another person can discern spirits, another person can speak in tongues, and another person can interpret tongues. All these are operated by the Holy Spirit and distributed to each person according to his own will. Refer to 1 Corinthians 12:8-11
