Let’s open our Bible to James Chapter 2, verses 19-20, and read them together: You believe that there is only one God, and you believe it well; the devils also believe it, but they are frightened. You vain man, do you want to know that faith without works is dead?

1. Confidence and Behavior
(1) The Jews believe in God but not Jesus, and their behavior of observing the law is dead
James 2:19-20 You believe that there is only one God, and you believe it well; the devils also believe it, but they are trembling. You vain man, do you want to know that faith without works is dead?
ask: Why is the Jewish law-keeping behavior dead?
answer: "Jewish" confidence ”→Believe in God, But don’t believe in Jesus ! James said → You believe that there is only one God. You believe it right. The devils also believe it!
ask: "Jewish" Behavior "What is it?"
answer: keep the law
ask: Why are law-abiding practices dead?
answer: If you fail to keep the law, you will be under the curse of the law. All Israel has violated your law and turned away and disobeyed your voice. Therefore, the curses and the oaths written in the law of Moses, your servant, are poured out. In our case, it is because we have sinned against God. Reference (Daniel 9:11)
(2) The Jews (who believe in) Jesus and keep the law (behavior) are also dead
James Chapter 2 Verse 8 It is written, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." It is good if you keep this royal law.
ask: Why is the "work" of the Jews who believe in Jesus and keep the law dead?
answer: For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point is guilty of breaking all of them. It turns out that he who said, "Thou shalt not commit adultery," also said, "Thou shalt not murder." Even if you do not commit adultery but murder, you are still breaking the law. (James 2:10-11)
→James said: "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only." Only by carefully observing the perfect law that makes people free, do not forget after hearing it, but actually practice it.
James asked to believe in Jesus " again "Jewish brothers who keep the law will definitely be blessed if they practice the righteousness of the law → Can they practice the righteousness of the law? (3) They believe in Jesus and their behavior of keeping the law falls from grace.
ask: Why can’t they live up to the righteousness of the law?
answer: Everyone who lives by the law is under a curse; for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the law." No one relies on it. Being justified before God by the law is obvious; for the Bible says: “The righteous shall live by faith.” Reference (Galatians 3:10-11)

2. Christian Faith and Behavior
(1) Live by the Holy Spirit and act by the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:25: If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
ask: What is life by the Holy Spirit?
answer: Believe the gospel. Understand the true way. Since you have believed in Christ, you have been sealed by the promised Holy Spirit →→ This is to live by the Holy Spirit! Amen. Refer to Ephesians 1:13
ask: What does it mean to walk by the Spirit?
answer: As we live by the Holy Spirit, we should rely on “ Holy Spirit "Working in us →→ do updated work , this is walking by the Holy Spirit. " confidence "→ Believe in Jesus," Behavior "Walk by the Spirit; walk not by the law, as Christian behavior →It’s “ Holy Spirit "Performing a renewing act in a Christian → being renewed by the Holy Spirit → there will be the gift of the Holy Spirit → If any The gift act of preaching the gospel is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ so that people can be saved, glorified, and have their bodies redeemed; there are acts of the Holy Spirit granting faith; there are acts of gifts of healing and casting out demons; there are acts of performing miracles and speaking in tongues Acts of gifting and stewardship...and so on. Reference (1 Corinthians 12:4-11), this is Christian faith and behavior. So, do you understand?
3. Faith can be perfected through actions
James Chapter 2 Verse 22 It can be seen that faith goes hand in hand with his works, and faith is perfected by his works.
ask: Faith and works go hand in hand. What works make it perfect?
answer: "The work of the Holy Spirit" Behavior "Perfect →→ letter God, who is renewed by the Holy Spirit and acts by the Holy Spirit" Behavior "Perfect. So, do you understand?
(1)Abraham’s faith and behavior
James 2:21-24 Wasn’t our father Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? It can be seen that faith goes hand in hand with his behavior, and faith is fulfilled because of his behavior. This fulfilled the scripture that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness." He was also called God's friend. From this point of view, people are justified by works, not by faith alone.
ask: What kind of faith did Abraham have in offering Isaac?
answer: letter The God who raises the dead and makes things out of nothing→→" confidence "! What Abraham believed in was the God who raises the dead and brings things into being. He is the father of us men before the Lord. As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations. ” (Romans 4:17)
ask: What was Abraham's act of sacrificing Isaac?
answer: " letter "God's work and behavior," letter "God has prepared acts," letter "The behavior guided by the Spirit of the Lord, Abraham sacrificed Isaac → It can be seen that faith goes hand in hand with his behavior, and it is perfected by faith through behavior. From this point of view, people are justified by behavior, not by faith alone. In this way, Do you understand?
Note: The Bible records that Abraham was a weak person who was afraid of death, but God asked him to sacrifice Isaac. Why was he able to do it? Because he believed in God, God justified him → It was God who gave him faith, and God’s Spirit instructed him to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Moriah! Amen. So, do you understand?
(2) Rahab’s faith and behavior
James Chapter 2 Verse 25 Wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works in the same way when she received the messengers and let them go out by another way? (James 2:25)
ask: Rahab’s faith→What is faith?
answer: Faith that God can save her family
ask: What was Rahab’s behavior?
answer: she letter god, It was the Spirit of God who guided her behavior in receiving the messenger .
so" Jacob "To my Jewish brethren → My brethren, what does it profit a man if he says he has faith, but has no works? Will his faith save him?"
1 The Jew believed in God but not Jesus; his behavior of believing in God and observing the law could not save him;
2 The act of believing in Jesus and keeping the law cannot save him from falling from grace;
3 Only by believing in Jesus, being renewed by the Holy Spirit, and relying on the work of the Holy Spirit can we be alive.
In this way, if there is no faith ( Holy Spirit Renewal ) behavior is dead. So, do you understand?
