Let’s open our Bible to Romans chapter 8 verses 16-17 and read them together: The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God; and if we are children, we are heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. If we suffer with Him, we will also be glorified with Him.
Today we will study, fellowship, and share together "The Suffering Servant" Pray: Dear Abba, Holy Heavenly Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that the Holy Spirit is always with us! Amen. 1. The Suffering of Jesus Christ
(1) Jesus was born and lay in a manger
ask: Where was the birth and placement of the glorious King of the Universe?
answer: Lying in a manger
The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid! I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all peoples; for today in the city of David a Savior is born to you, even Christ the Lord. You will see a baby, including Covering yourself with cloths and lying in a manger is a sign." Reference (Luke 2:10-12)
(2) Taking the form of a slave and being made in human likeness
ask: What is the Savior Jesus like?
answer: Taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, and being born in human likeness; Reference (Philippians) (Book 2, verses 5-7)
(3) Fleeing to Egypt after encountering persecution
After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod will be looking for the child to destroy him. Destroy him." So Joseph got up and took the child and his mother by night and went to Egypt, where they stayed until Herod died. (4) He was crucified on the cross to save mankind from sin
1 The sin of all is laid upon him
Question: On whom is our sin laid?
Answer: The sin of all people is laid on Jesus Christ.
We all like sheep have gone astray; each one has turned to his own way; the Lord has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all. Reference (Isaiah 53:6)
2 He was led like a lamb to the slaughter
He was oppressed, but he did not open his mouth when he was suffering. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. . He was taken away because of oppression and judgment. But as for those who were with him, who thinks that he was scourged and cut off from the land of the living because of the sin of my people? 3 to death, even death on the cross
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue say, “Jesus Christ is Lord” to the glory of God the Father. 2: The apostles suffered while preaching the gospel
(1) The apostle Paul suffered while preaching the gospel
The Lord said to Ananias: "Go ahead! He is my chosen vessel to bear witness to my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. I will also show him (Paul) what must be done for my name's sake." Suffering much” Reference (Acts 9:15-16).
(2) All the apostles and disciples were persecuted and killed
1 Stephen was martyred --Refer to Acts 7:54-60
2 James, John's brother, was killed --Refer to Acts 12:1-2
3 Peter is killed --Refer to 2 Peter 1:13-14
4 Paul is killed
I am now being poured out as a offering, and the hour of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, who judges righteously, will give to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who love his appearing. 5 The prophets were killed
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill prophets and stone those who are sent to you. How many times have I wished to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you will not Yes. Reference (Matthew 23:37)
3. God’s servants and workers suffer when preaching the gospel
(1)Jesus suffered
Surely He has borne our sorrows and carried our sorrows; yet we thought Him to be chastised, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities. By his chastisement we have peace; by his stripes we are healed. Reference (Isaiah 53:4-5)
(2) God’s workers suffer when they preach the gospel
1 They have no good beauty
2 Looking more haggard than others
3 They don't shout or raise their voices ,
nor make their voices heard in the streets
4 They were despised and rejected by others
5 A lot of pain, poverty, and wandering
6 often experience sorrow
(With no source of income, food, clothing, housing and transportation are all problems)
7 Encountered persecution
(“ internal reception "→→False prophets, false brothers slander and religious frame-up;" External reception "→→Under the control of the king on earth, from online to underground control, we have encountered many persecutions such as obstruction, opposition, accusations, and unbelieving outsiders.)
8 They are enlightened by the Holy Spirit and preach the truth of the gospel →→ The Bible. Once God’s words are opened, fools can understand, be saved, and have eternal life! Amen!
Christian Gospel Truth : Silence also the kings of the earth, silence the lips of sinners, silence the lips of false prophets, false brothers, false preachers, and the lips of whores .
(3) We suffer with Christ and we will be glorified with Him
