Lecture 2: Put on spiritual armor every day
Let’s open our Bible to Ephesians 6:13-14 and read them together:Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand the enemy in the day of trouble, and having done all, to stand. So stand firm, girding yourself with the truth...
1: Girdle your waist with truth
Question: What is truth?Answer: Detailed explanation below
(1) The Holy Spirit is truth
The Holy Spirit is truth:
This is Jesus Christ who came by water and blood; not by water alone, but by water and blood, and bearing the witness of the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit is truth. (1 John 5:6-7)
The Spirit of Truth:
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter (or Comforter; the same below), that he may be with you forever, who is the truth. The world cannot accept Him; for it neither sees Him nor knows Him, but you know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you (John 14:15-17).
(2) Jesus is the truth
What is truth?Pilate asked him, "Are you a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth. He who is true listens to my voice.” Pilate asked, “What is truth?”
(John 18:37-38)
Jesus is the truth:
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
(3) God is truth
The Word is God:
In the beginning there was the Tao, and the Tao was with God, and the Tao was God. This Word was with God in the beginning. (John 1:1-2)
God’s Word is truth:
They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, even so I have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified through the truth.
(John 17:16-19)
Note: In the beginning there was the Tao, the Tao was with God, and the Tao was God! God is the Word, the Word of life (see 1 John 1:1-2). Your Word is truth, therefore, God is truth. Amen!
2: How to girdle your waist with truth?
Question: How to girdle your waist with truth?Answer: Detailed explanation below
Note: Using the truth as a belt to girdle your waist, that is, God’s way, God’s truth, God’s words, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, are authoritative and powerful for God’s children and Christians! Amen.
(1) Rebirth1 Born of water and the Spirit - John 3:5-7
2 Born from the faith of the gospel - 1 Corinthians 4:15, James 1:18
3 Born of God - John 1:12-13
(2) Put on the new self and put on Christ
Put on the new man:
And put on the new self, created in the image of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:24)
Put on a new man. The new man is renewed in knowledge into the image of his Creator. (Colossians 3:10)
Put on Christ:
Therefore you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27)
Always put on the Lord Jesus Christ and do not make arrangements for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. (Romans 13:14)
(3) Abide in Christ
The new man abides in Christ:
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1 KJV)Whoever abides in Him does not sin; whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. (1 John 3:6 KJV)
(4) Confidence-I am no longer the one alive now
I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 KJV)
(5) The new man joins Christ and grows into an adult
To equip the saints for the work of ministry, and to build up the body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,… only by Love speaks the truth and grows in all things into Him who is the Head, Christ, by whom the whole body is held together and fitted together, with every joint serving its purpose and supporting one another according to the function of each part, causing the body to grow and build itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:12-13,15-16 KJV)
(6) The "flesh" of the old man gradually deteriorates
If you have heard his word, received his instruction, and learned his truth, then you must put off your old self, which is your old self, which is corrupting through the deceitfulness of its lusts. (Ephesians 4:21-22 Union Version)
(7) The new man “spiritual man” is renewed day by day in Christ
Therefore, we do not lose heart. Although the outer body is being destroyed, yet the inner body is being renewed day by day. Our light and momentary sufferings will work for us an eternal weight of glory beyond compare. It turns out that we care not about what is seen, but about what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 KJV)
That your faith may not rest on the wisdom of men but on the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5 KJV)
Note:
Paul is for the word of God and the gospel! In the flesh, he experienced tribulations and chains in the world. When he was imprisoned in Philippi, he saw the soldier jailer wearing full armor. He was inspired by the Holy Spirit! So he wrote a letter to all the saints in Ephesus. Christians have spiritual blessings. They rely on the power of God and are good soldiers of Christ. They must put on the whole armor of God.
Take heed to yourselves, and do not act as fools, but as wise. Make the most of the time, for these days are evil. Don’t be a fool, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Reference Ephesians 5:15-17
Three: Christians as soldiers of Christ
Wear what God has given you every day
-Spiritual Armor:Especially when Christians are physically experiencing trials, tribulations, and tribulations; when Satan’s messengers in the world are attacking Christians’ bodies, Christians must get up every morning, put on the full spiritual armor given by God, and use the truth as their belt. Girdle your loins and get ready for a day's work.
(As Paul said) I have one final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you can stand against the devil's schemes. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand the enemy in the day of trouble, and having done all, to stand. Therefore stand firm, girding yourself with the belt of truth…(Ephesians 6:10-14 KJV)
