Knowing Jesus Christ 8

Lecture 8: Jesus is Alpha and Omega

(1) The Lord is Alpha and Omega

The Lord God says: “I am Alpha and Omega (Alpha, Omega: the first and last two letters of the Greek alphabet), the Almighty, who was, who is, and who is to come.” Revelation 1: 7-8

Question: What does “Alpha and Omega” mean?

Answer: Alpha and Omega → are the Greek letters "first and last", which means the first and the last.

Question: What is the meaning of past, present and eternal?

Answer: "Is in the past" means the Almighty One in eternity, the beginning, the beginning, the beginning, before the world existed → the Lord God Jesus has existed, exists today, and will be forever! Amen.

The book of Proverbs says:

“In the beginning of the Lord’s creation,
In the beginning, before all things were created, there was me (that is, there was Jesus).
From eternity, from the beginning,
Before the world was, I was established.
There is no abyss, no fountain of great water, I (referring to Jesus) have been born.
Before the mountains were laid, before the hills came into existence, I was born.
Before the LORD created the earth and its fields and the soil of the world, I gave birth to them.
(Heavenly Father) He has established the heavens, and I (referring to Jesus) are there;
He drew a circle around the face of the abyss. Above he makes the sky firm, below he makes the sources stable, sets limits for the sea, keeps the water from crossing his command, and establishes the foundation of the earth.
At that time I (Jesus) was with Him (the Father) a master craftsman (engineer),
He delights in Him every day, always rejoicing in His presence, rejoicing in the place He has prepared for man (referring to mankind) to dwell in, and (Jesus) delights to live among men.

Now, my sons, listen to me, for blessed is he who keeps my ways. Proverbs 8:22-32

(2) Jesus is the first and the last

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if dead. He laid his right hand on me and said, "Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last;

He who lives; I was dead, and behold, I live forever and ever; and I have the keys of death and of Hades. Revelation 1:17-18

Question: What does the first and the last mean?

Answer: "First of all" means from eternity, from the beginning, the beginning, the beginning, before the world existed → Jesus already existed, was established, and was born! “The end” refers to the end of the world, when Jesus is the eternal God.

Question: Jesus died. For whom did he die?

Answer: Jesus died “once” for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Question: Jesus died for our sins and was buried. What does it free us from?

Answer: Detailed explanation below

1 Free us from sin

That we should no longer be slaves to sin - Romans 6:6-7

2 Freedom from the law and its curse - Romans 7:6, Gal 3:13
3 Put off the old man and its deeds - Colossians 3:9
4 Having put away the passions and desires of the flesh - Gal 5:24
5 Out of myself, it is no longer I who live - Gal 2:20
6 Out of the world - John 17:14-16

7 Delivered from Satan - Acts 26:18

Question: Jesus was resurrected on the third day. What does it give us?
Answer: Justify us! Romans 4:25. Let us be resurrected, reborn, saved, adopted as sons of God, and have eternal life together with Christ! Amen

(Jesus) He has rescued us from the power of darkness (referring to death and Hades) and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son; Colossians 1:13

Therefore, the Lord Jesus said: "I was dead, and now I am alive forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and Hades. Do you understand this?"

(3) Jesus is the beginning and the end

Then the angel said to me, "These words are true and trustworthy. The Lord, the God of the inspired spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants things that must soon come to pass." "Behold, I will quickly come to you." Come! Blessed are those who obey the prophecies of this book! "…I am Alpha and Omega; I am the first and the last; I am the beginning and the end. "

Revelation 22:6-7,13
