Let’s continue our study of 1 John 1:9. Turn over and read together: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

answer: here" us ” means before rebirth , did not know Jesus, did not ( letter ) Jesus did not understand the truth of the gospel when he was under the law.

ask: why here" us "Does it mean before rebirth?"
answer: Because before we were reborn, we did not know Jesus or understand the true doctrine of the gospel. We were under the law. Those who were under the law were those who broke the law. Breaking the law and disobeying the law are sins, so we are under the law. People → confess their sins.

2. Confession under the law

(1) Achan pleads guilty → Joshua said to Achan, "My son, I urge you, give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and confess your sin before him. Tell me what you have done, and do not hide it from me." Achan answered Joshua. Ya said, “I have indeed sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done (Joshua 7:19-26).

Note: Achan confessed his crime → the evidence of his guilt was confirmed, and he was stoned to death according to the law → A man who violated the law of Moses, even with two or three witnesses, was not shown mercy and died. (Hebrews 10:28)

(2) King Saul confessed his crime → 1 Samuel 15:24 Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. I have disobeyed the Lord’s command and your word because I was afraid of the people and obeyed their voice.

Note: Disobedience → means breach of contract ("covenant" is the law) → The sin of disobedience is the same as the sin of sorcery; the sin of stubbornness is the same as the sin of worshiping false gods and idols. Because you have rejected the commandment of the LORD, the LORD has rejected you as king. ” (1 Samuel 15:23)

(3) David confessed →When I kept silent and did not confess my sins, my bones withered because I groaned all day long. …I declare my sins to you and do not conceal my evil deeds. I said, "I will confess my sins to the LORD." And you forgive my sins. (Psalm 32:3,5) (4) Daniel confesses his sins →I prayed and confessed my sin to the LORD my God, saying: “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy to those who love the Lord and keep His commandments. We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have committed evil and rebellion, and we have strayed from Your commandments. commandments and judgments,... all Israel has transgressed thy law, and has gone astray, and has not obeyed thy voice; therefore the curses and the oaths written in the law of Moses, thy servant, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned God. (Daniel 9:4-5,11)

(5)Simon Peter confesses his sins → When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Lord, depart from me, for I am a sinner!” (Luke 5:8)
(6) Plea guilty to tax history →The tax collector stood far away, not even daring to raise his eyes to heaven. He only beat his chest and said, "O God, have mercy on me, a sinner!" ’ (Luke 18:13)
(7) You must confess your sins to each other → Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great effect. (James 5:16)
(8) If we confess our sins , God is faithful and righteous, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

3. Before rebirth" us "" you "All under the law

ask: You must confess your sins to one another → Who is this referring to?
answer: Jews! The Epistle of James is a greeting (letter) written by James, the brother of Jesus, to the → people of the twelve tribes scattered abroad - refer to James Chapter 1:1.

They were not free from the law, they were still under the law, Jews who broke the law and violated the law. So Jacob said to them → " you "Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed ( disease is cured ) Understand salvation → Believe in Jesus → With His stripes, you will be healed → Get real healing → reborn and saved !

ask: If we confess our sins→" us "Who does it refer to?"
answer: " us ” refers to the fact that before being reborn, one did not know Jesus and had no ( letter ) Jesus, when he was not born again → stood in front of his family, brothers and sisters and used → “we”! This is also what John said to his Jewish brothers, because they ( letter ) God, but ( Don't believe it )Jesus, lack( mediator ) Jesus Christ the Savior! They think that they have kept the law and have not sinned, and do not need to confess → such as " paul "How do you ask someone to confess his sins when he kept the law blamelessly? It's impossible for him to confess his sins, right! After being enlightened by Christ, Paul came to know his true self." old man "Before you are born again, you are the chief of sinners.

So here" John "Write to ( Don't believe it ) Jesus’ Jewish, brethren under the law said → “ us "If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Do you understand this?
